The new Edox has been designed to endure the harshest desert conditions. The large case is made of 316L stainless and coated in ultra-virile black PVD. The masculine 45mm case is adorned with a black PVD dial inscribed in red Arabic numerals that marks time in five-minute increments. The right side of case has a screw down crown and two STOP/START chronograph buttons that remind you about the engine.

The official timekeeper for the 2013 Dakar Rally is a black dial with red and white accents. The black dial features Arabic numerals for hour markers. There are also two subdials, and a date window at 6 o'clock. The numerals for the quarter-hour, hour and minute hands as well as the numbers at each quarter are all colored in an eye-catching red. The 30-minute chronograph counter can be found between 3 and 4 o'clock, and a small-seconds counter on the other side between 8 and 9 o’clock. A tachymeter is set around the dial's periphery, which gives the dial a nice rounding.
